Wallpaper projects

Today I grouped together pictures of a few wallpaper projects that I did a month ago. I find myself in love with this material and the endless ways in which it can be used! I will not write many details here, rather I 'll pass you to my flickr account, where you' ll find more descriptive details of the projects.

As I 'm in a flight mode tonight, there are rather a few things I need to take care of....still as you can see, it is hard for me to keep myself from posting! I hope you' ll enjoy the pictures and get inspired for new weekend projects, as it is only one day away!
Have fun...oh!...and happy Thursday : )

A featuring of the Penthouse at Houzz.com.

A presentation of the Penthouse and an interview with sweet Kit Pollard from Houzz.com . Such a warm hostess! It has been a big pleasure : ) Thank you Kit and " gerne wieder " as we'd say in Germany, meaning I 'd gladly do it again!

Be sure to flip the pages of the blog, as there's so much inspiration for all possible styles and tastes. What is also very nice and practical is that, by logging in, you have the ability to create your own personal ideabook, consisting of the pictures that you come across on the blog and would like to keep.So not only you get inspired, but you can easily store, in  a way, your sources of inspiration, so that you can go back to them whenever you need.

On creativity, love, psychology and real life....somehow mixed in the same post

This is one of a pair of two favorite dessert plates of mine, that were found in Habitat a few years ago. I like to use them for dessert and breakfast, especially when I could use to be cheered up a little bit.
I haven't been making or posting many pictures lately, as there's not so much time or desire for it, due to issues that need to be taken care of. But I cannot leave this place, with out offering or sharing something with you. Because no matter what is going on, there's nothing more true, that comes from deeper inside me than expressing myself though creativity, decoration, design and photography! This is one of my ways of living with love and expressing love for life and promise that I 'll be always coming back, everytime having learnt something new and having made a new step ahead in life.

It's funny, how through posts like this, the issue of Psychology is also touched....because who we are, what we do, how we live and express ourselves is actually part of our psychology.....it is part of who we are, it is a reflection of ourselves. It is of course a person's eyes that are the mirror of his/ her soul, but so is the way somebody lives and his/her place itself.

It's not about money and possessions, eventhough money does help a lot to bring home with us things that we like and love to have, it 's mostly about the feeling that we give to the spaces where we live, and this can be achieved only by putting part of ourselves there. It' s about making a house a home, and this is done only through love.

I know I' m getting kind of emotional, but I 'm not here to create impressions of living a perfect life, having everything sorted out and walking steadily on the path of life. No, I 'm actually here, writing these lines, because this is exactly what I need to do, to be able to make my very own, stable path in life and choosing to do it, being engaged in the things that are meaningful, important and by doing them, being able to offer the best part of me.

It's funny how I had to complete my studies in Psychology, to find out that it's through creativity that I actually want to live. And I love to be creative with other people, especially with children. I 'm so thankful for the lovely hours spent together with them, through the Art&Crafts sessions. There is so much beauty coming out from their pure souls. And in the case that they are troubled, for any reason, oh! how it helps to understand more about them through their creations and drawings! And how soul soothing and therapeutic it is to let them and encourage them to express themselves.

So, because this post has ended up touching far too many issues than it was intented, I will close by saying, do find yourselves through any expression of creativity and most af all, encourage your little ones ( or even bigger ones!) to experience this lovely - eventhough cruel very often at the same time - world, through every one of their senses! And to make the always necessary connection to this post's picture, a little eye candy to please the eye and soothe the soul, through these colourful, playful kimonos printed on this plate.

  A lovely Wednesday to all....keep on smiling ; -)

Reusing and repurposing stuff

From pants to a pillow case....In the photo of the...photo...there is me in the Greek island of Paros in 1995...oh gosh!...I was 20, already crazy about decoration and design, enrolled in Psychology classes at Deree( The American College of Greece ) and must have bought 40 pairs of vintage bell bottomed pants within a year, for 500 drachmas each ( that's 1,50 euro!) from the basement of a shop that was selling out original stock from the 70s.

I had them made into a pillow case some 5 to 6 six years ago and it has been a favorite of mine ever since. I love to reuse, recycle and repurpose things, fabrics, materials. It's an endless game, a process of creativity, through which objects have a story to tell and souls are soothened....
And you?...what have you repurposed or reused lately?....links to your pictures please if possible! Smiles for a lovely Sunday to come....a relaxing one...a creative one....a fun one...or whatever makes you happy...= )

What are you reading?

I took this picture today for the flickr's group Desk Thursday. As I' ve said in previous posts, there's something about Thursdays that makes me like them a lot! So, Happy Thursday to all and specifically Happy Desk Thursday!...but most of all, a very nice month to all! October is here and so is Autumn slowly, slowly. Time for... more time spent indoors, for coccooning, for hot cups of tea or chocolate, accompanied with delicious cookies, cakes, our favorite music and of course books! What a great friend they make and how much they exercise the mind, open the spirit, sooth the soul, feed the imagination, add to our knowledge or simply just relax and entertain us.

I 'll not pretend to be an avid reader, I read much less than I 'd like to and spend so much of my time reading or looking through my beloved decoration and design books. Concerning reading, I 've read a lot being a student, studing psychology but haven't read as many books of my personal choice as I ' d like.

To go back to the picture, here is a description of what lies on the dining table, which other than its original purpose to be used for eating meals such as breakfast and dinner, it serves the purpose of being my daily desk. I simpy love sitting on the bench - self, having my legs crossed, almost like in the Lotus position of Yoga ( which kindly forces me to keep my back straight! ), exactly opposite the reading corner and having a view of the whole apartment...something of course not difficult to be acheived, due to its small size.

So, books...and magazines! Starting on the top right and going clockwise:
1) The Times, this week's issue. They arrive weekly and as much as the man of the house would like me to read more of them, I manage to read only a few articles from time to time.
2)  Kinder machen Weihnachtssachen: A book about making Christmas crafts with children in German. It's lovely! I bought it this week in Wiesbaden, to practice my German while preparing for December's Arts&Crafts in English seminar. I still need to prepare the next seminar though, taking place in the end of this month celebrating of course, what else?...Halloween!
3) One for my Baby by Tony Parsons, a German edition again, for the same practising reasons. Found in a bookstore in Frankfurt and purchased just for 2 euros! I love the way it's written, but it takes me  a g e s   to move from one page to the other! Oh well, patience is acquired...not so easily!
4) Ikea Family Live, issue Herbst 2009. Oh how I love this magazine! Amazing Ninainworm is featured in this issue.
5) Randevous mit der Zeit, a book with funny, wonderful illustrations, dating back to 1975. I don't really understand it but appreciate its style and am very happy that I won it for 1 euro in ebay ( + 65 cents shipping costs). The time will come that I'll be able to figure it out. And last but not least:
6) Deutsch Pruefungstraining Goethe - Zertificat B2.

I decided to go on studing on my own and only enroll myself to the last class of this stage - that would be the 3rd one ( there is B2 -1, B2-2 and B2-3). Being a teacher myself, am aware of how to study effectively in order to learn a language. And of course there is so much gained after a full year of Volkhochschule, that I think a break is accepatable. Nevertheless, the benefits of participating in a course are numerous, from learning from - most often - great teachers, to meeting other people and interacting with them using the target language and very possibly making friends! Keeping all these in mind, I'll be participating in a course in the Volkhochshule of  Mainz, sometime in the next few weeks.

So what about you...what are you reading? I 'd love to hear what you like to read, what you are currently reading or what you plan to read. And if you' d like to make pictures of them, they are very welcome!
