Ivy hearts styling...

Ivy hearts styling..., originally uploaded by ivy style33.

....wether interiors, exteriors or fashion, she loves to style!
....and most of all she loves to style with a clear mind and a smily heart!...she's happy for her initial studies and major in Psychology (and minor in Philosophy ) and sees that provided there is health given, there is nothing that can stand between a person and his/her true passion!

Having been passionate about style all my life, the only reason I hadn't studied it at the beginning was that major life issues in my immediate environment called for understanding, and studies on the subject mentioned were a priority.

Years of personal analysis followed ( as to practice in my own self what studied) and all comes down to the one and only truth: we are all born with some talents and passions and there's nothing better than perfecting them as soon as possible....but should life bring it this way, that there is a delay...it is never too late and actually, late is better than never!

I have come to conclude that there is a special quality in styling that fascinates me and this is that of balance.

I know that decorating is very often about astonishing results and evoking ohhhhs and wooows, or needing to impress even a little bit with some possesions. This is fine and quite often I myself do admire such spaces, but somehow I prefer to live and create simple interiors, that are powered by the personalities of the people inhabiting them.

Balanced interiors of course needn't always be in neutral palletes, as much as balanced people needn't always be quiet! They can still be expressive and get super enthusiastic about things, still there's something about the way of expressing that holds a certain balance....

Always...not too much....and not too little...who knows maybe a new wave will emerge....after minimalism and maximalism....balancism!

If we think about it, we are all amazed or affected by balance in so many ways....dancers and acrobats wouldn't be able to perform without balance...buildings wouldn't be able to stand straight, cyclists wouldn't be able to ride their bicycles or motorcycles, there would be no musical harmony and of course there would be no day and night, no seasons....everything in the whole of existence seems to be based on balance....but we people are sometimes so dependent on our need to impress, that we choose fancy or extreme ways - in our interiors / outfits/ behavior - which are definetely much more notable and exciting...and probably easier to achieve...

Do they make us happy though?
Could it be that the key to happiness is also balance
?

  1. Hello Ivy!

I commented 2 older postsings of yours,
not sure if you get informed automatically if someone comments older postings, that is why I put them in here. Feel free to delete this message here if you think it is inappropriate.

"Hello again! Is this the IKEA KULLA hanging above the dining table? How do you like the light/atmosphere? I was wondering if I should get it for my kitchen or living room. At IKEA you can't really test the light since they are all lit!
btw: magst du auch Kommentare in deutsch? Quasi als Möglichkeit, dein Deutsch weiter zu verbessern? Oder ist das nicht so gut ;-)"

"Dear Ivy style 33, I was just wondering what the color at your wall is - plain white? did you add some pigments to the white, like a bit of green?

I will have my apartment re-painted and like the atmosphere in your penthouse. But I don't want to go for plain white. Doesn't seem right to me. For the last 15 years I lived in a light creme-white (yellow pigmented). "

Yes, and about balance. I am sure, there is something in orange, red or purple in your penthouse. Have not found it yet. ;-)

  2. Dear Ivy,
I've been following you on flicker and on your blog for quite some time and I'm compelled to let you know how much I love your style and vision of life. Going through a bad patch in my life I find so much joy and inspiration in your pictures and posts, and I simply want to thank you: yes indeed, balance and armony and their healing power is what I need right now.

  3. Paula hi!

No,I don't get automatically informed about comments on posts,so I find out by coming here and checking...sometimes I miss them, though.
I should find out how to that, in addition to making some of the previous links work again!
Sorry that you got no replies so far! I was totally unaware of them.

It's good that you copied them here, this way I can be of help :)
    So, let's answer some questions!

    1. Yes, Kulla is the name of the lamp above the dining table and we are satisfied with the light. But I'm a big fun of lighting the space by using mostly area lighting and candles, so the truth is we don't use the central ceiling lights so often.

    2. The walls of the Penthouse are pure white, and it was found this way when we moved in. It is actually wallpaper, which must have been repainted.

    3. Colour in the Penthouse...tehee...just in small bits...if you can flip carefully through sets in my flickr, you'll see some purple in the bedroom...orange in the small Expedit...ocassionally yellow in the kitchen, red in the vernada...turquoise in the bath...
...just always in small portions, as limited square meters seem to suffocate from too much and too many colours.

Keeping it simple and having white as a canvas, lots of additions and changes can be done, still keeping a feeling of calm and an ilusion of more space!

As for the language, it would be a good chance to practice my German,yes!...but it'd take away the spontaneity and since it's a blog written in English, let's keep it this way here. So as also for most of the readers to be able to follow!
    Thank you :)

  4. Dear C.,

I'd love to know your name!...visited you over at your blog, but haven't found it, yet.
Thank you for all your kindest words. You seem to be a very delicate person. I'm trully very happy you are being inspired here and am so sorry to know you are going through a difficult period.

Whatever it is, this too shall pass and calmness and harmony will mostly prevail in your life again. It is a constant cycle...but if there are a few things or situations you need to break free from, then let it be...no matter how hard the process, you'll always be thankful for
    having taken the steps.

Warmest wishes and good thoughts to you!

  5. Hello Ivy! thank you for your kindness - you have no idea how much your style already influenced my latest decisions!
3 weeks ago I chose some wallpaint. It is still 3 weeks until the painter arrives and I can already tell all the colors I chose will turn out a lot more white than they originally were intended to be. (the pink in the bedroom while be really pale)
I decided to go for dining-table-lamps which hang exactly above the table. Never had this before in my appartment, only at home, with my parents.

In an earlier posting you asked for pictures of my reading-corner-in-progress. I already took some pictures, I just need to get them into the computer. There is a lot of clearance and decluttering going on at the moment!

  7. Dear Ivy,
    C. is short from Cristina, nice to meet you! ;O)
I come back to your blog and pictures again and again, my special place to retreat from cold rainy days (Italy has really forgotten what spring looks and feels like) both weatherwise and moodwise. I'm so glad I met you even though only virtually, isn't the Net just great for that?

  8. Cristina,
you have a lovely name! Nice to meet you, too :)
Yes, the Net offers so many positive aspects and meeting people we are inspired from, who we'd never have otherwise, is one of them!

Rainy, cold days that remind of everything but spring May weather are predominant here in Germany, too...but this is normal. Hope the sun comes out in beautiful Italy and that it also comes our northern way!
